At the first meeting with a new client, when taking over a site, while troubleshooting: the extension shows in seconds where certificate, mail records and DNS of a domain stand, without copying the address into a tool first.

What the extension shows

  • Score per area and overall

    Website, email, DNS and domain, each with a score from 0 to 100 and an overall score – the same rating as the domain check on the website, nineteen checks in one click: from certificate, IPv6 and security.txt to name servers, CAA, BIMI and blacklists.

  • Or one check on purpose

    At the top of the popup you pick a single check instead of the overall one: SPF, DMARC, DKIM, MX, SSL/TLS, IPv6, DNS, DNSSEC, name servers, CAA, blacklists, MTA-STS, BIMI, security.txt, HTTP headers, reachability and more – with findings, recommendations and key facts. Your choice is remembered.

  • What is worth doing first

    Open points are sorted by how many points fixing them earns. Each point and the link below the result open the full result of that check on the website.

  • No account needed

    These are the same free checks as on the website. You do not need a DomainWarn account.

  • Signed in: monitoring state

    After "Sign in with DomainWarn" the popup shows whether the domain is monitored, its state per area and open incidents, with "Check now", "Add" and a link to the dashboard. Checks then run without the hourly limit of the free tools.

  • Minimal permissions

    It only checks when you open the popup. No background script, no access to page content, no access to all sites – only the address of the active tab, and only at that moment.

Set up in three steps

  1. Add the extension to Chrome and pin the DomainWarn icon to the toolbar.
  2. Click the icon on any page: the overall check runs, or you pick a single check at the top of the popup.
  3. Optional: click "Sign in with DomainWarn", sign in in the DomainWarn window, pick the organization and confirm. The popup then shows the domain's monitoring state.

The extension gets its own token that you can revoke at any time under Settings → API; "Sign out" in the extension revokes it right away. The extension never sees your password.

If you run DomainWarn yourself, enter your own API address in the extension settings under "Advanced"; a manual token can be stored there as well.

Requirements

Google Chrome. No DomainWarn account needed; signed in, you also see the monitoring state.

Which data is transmitted

The domain name of the current page is transmitted, and only on click. Signed in, the extension's token goes along, to DomainWarn only; token, organization and the account's email address stay locally in the browser until you sign out. No selling, no sharing with third parties, no advertising.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account?
No. The checks work without an account – the same free checks as on the website. Signed in, you also get the monitoring state, "Check now" and "Add", and the hourly limit of the free tools no longer applies.
How do I sign in, and out again?
With "Sign in with DomainWarn": a DomainWarn window opens, you pick the organization and the scope (read only, or also add and check) and confirm. The extension gets its own token listed under Settings → API; "Sign out" in the extension or revoking it there ends the access.
What data does the extension see?
Only the address of the active tab, and only at the moment you open the popup. Only the domain name is transmitted; the extension does not read page content.
Does the extension run in the background?
No. It has no background script and no content script and only checks when you open it.
Is it the same score as on the website?
Yes. The overall check shows the rating of the domain check with the same areas and checks; the link in the popup opens exactly that result on the website.
